Bobcat hunt fiasco

Went out looking for lions on Saturday and didn't find a thing. I did cut one older bobcat. It was maybe a day or so old and hard to tell. The snow we have right now is that stuff that acts more like sand than snow so you can't see a track, just a dimple. You(at least I do) have to stop at every coyote, fox or cat track to check it out close but after walking this one for a bit to see how it walked I figured BOBCAT. I cut one dog loose and he cold trailed silent for about five min. Finally started making a little bit of noise so I dumped another dog. After around 2 hours of cold trailing I heard them blowup and thought to myself "this cat is caught". First mistake. Second mistake; walking down into 2 different very LARGE ledgey canyons thinking they were treed. Nope just ledged and about the time I found myself right smack dab in the bottom, they found a way up through. 4 hours later I can hear them in the bottom of yet another deep ledgey canyon and after making sure they were stopped(yeah right) I head off down the mountian again only to find them ledged for good this time. I did get a good look at the cat track down there and I'll be damned if that was not the smallest bobcat track I have ever turned on. That little sucker ran farther then any bober I have run and did those dogs in. They were plumb beat. So was I. Guess I'll have to lick my wounds and give her hell again this weekend.
