How do you carry your electronics

Wondering how you all carry your tritronics transmitter, while chasing the dogs over terrain?

I have one of those orange colored cases that the transmitter slips into, kept on my pack belt.
I don`t trust that flimsey cordura case........had the unit fall out before when crawling and climbing through the thick stuff.

Wondering what else is out there, apart from doing my own leatherwork and making something.

I had a leather shop make one from my old classic 70. It worked for years and I never lost it one time.... that I didn't forget to latch the button. I'm going to have to find another leather shop to make me one for the newer models. It needs to fit snug but, not so tight you can't get it out and have them fasten a piece of leather to the holster long enough that you can loop it around your antenna and fasten it with a heavy duty button. The leather piece should look like a ribbon. You can also put a piece of twin on your transmitter and then fasten it to your holster. It's a pain in the butt if you want to hold the transmitter out really far but, you won't loose it if you forget to fasten the snap.

Good question.....

I've sent 2 of them to "seed". I currently have my third one, but only for a couple days and havn't seem to have lost it yet. Loosing those can turn a nice day out with the dogs into an expensive trip. I'd really like to hear some more options. I like the belt idea if I only didn't wear a pack with a hip support that rides right where a belt holster would fit  .

I never use one when I turn the dogs out. I do my training in the off season so they are ready come season. How do you know they are running trash when they are out of sight?

Dean, here is an example of why I carry mine with me while hunting:

Last season while hunting my pup solo I turned out on a female track heading north up the road. He was trailing along well and turned off the left side of the road and exploded. He grabbed another gear and was leaving the scene rapidly. There was a tom that had walked the same track going the other way. By the time that I got to where he met the tom track, he was out of hearing range. I used the "tone" button to recall him and line him out on the track of my choosing.

I agree with not shocking when you don't know what is really going on. What model of shock collar do you use?

That tone button is the greatest thing they have come up with to date!
I look at as a warning shot before they get stupid.

I can understand your rationale.........
I use the beep function to call my dogs back when I want their asses back at my feet. Way better than yelling, and I KNOW that they hear the beep where ever they are. The transmitter is always on me when hunting.

about the best i have found is the military MOLLE Gear. i know that you can find it on line, probally military surplus. it keep everything right in front of you and you can get pouches to hold about anything. it is proven and tested. the only situation that i dont like my gear right there is in the swamps of eastern NC were you are often crawling into a bay but down there you are carrying alot less equipment then you are when you leave the truck up in a mountain range. a small very secure but back is what i like for those swamps.

I keep mine on my belt, but a couple of my friends use these "man purses" :P They really like them, they strap to your chest. The shocker fits perfect in the small pouch and the Astro in the big one. They are made by Motorola.
