I have a blue dog, Cameron, that is 10 months old now and I cannot seem to put weight on it. I have fed Pride food, both 22/16 and 24/20 and I have tried a local food, Buddy Boy, 22/16 and 24/20. I cannot seem to put weight on this dog. I have wormed him with both Panicure from the vet and with Safeguard powder. Is there something I am missing. Should I move to feeding twice a day, adding supplements or other food source. Is there a recommendation on dog food. There is no Black and Gold around here. I mainly can choose from Pride, Tracker, Purina Brands, Diamond, Big Red and Sport-mix.
I feed him about 3 cups per day
Thanks for any input

If you are having problem putting weight on him I would bump him up on dog food. And feed twice a day. I had a young bluetick here that was eating 6 cups of Purina Pro Plan and still staying lean. You can feed a supplement called "Missing Link" that has helped me keep weight on dogs.. If he is still looking bad you might take him for a vet check...

I had a similar problem with a 9 month old plott, I wormed with Zimectrin Gold and it cured the weight problem.

If your sure he is worm free and healthy then I would double up his feed for two weeks and see what happens.3 cups in the morning and three in the evening.

Some dogs are just like some humans. You just can't gain weight sometimes. Just cuz your dog isn't fat doesn't mean it's unhealthy or anything. Might make it a little harder for them to stay warm in the winter though.

We had a Cameron with the same troubles..... He had malabsorbtion, he could not process fats or protiens at all. At first we thought it may be pancreatic atropy, were the pancreas does not produce the enzymes to help digest fats and protiens. This is helped by feeding an supplement with food however it runs around $100.00+ a bottle and you need to feed a feed low in fat & protien. We tryed every food under the sun and supplements as well. He almost three years old and weighed 36# when he should of been around 55-60#. A few signs of this is large stools that can be green to tar color that are very runny, drinking a ton of water and eating an abnormal amount of (dog) feces. Please take your dog to the vet and figure this out. Our boy couldn't keep up hunting any more and we chose to put him down. He lived to hunt and was not happy being left at home. This condition can turn into diabetes if left untreated.
Good Luck
