I just took a quick look at dogs killed to date this year. 19 killed, 7 also injured. The interesting part, it was not only hounds.

Maps of Caution Areas and Depredation Information:Caution Areas are created to warn hunters and dog owners about wolf attacks. They do not represent actual wolf territories but rather are generally considerably larger than the actual pack territory.

Lea Lake Pack - Sawyer County
On January 15th, a 14-year old Labrador Retriever was injured by wolves from the Lea Lake Pack. The attack occurred in about 7 miles east of Exeland in southern Sawyer County near the Sawyer County Forest. This is the first documented attack on dogs by wolves for 2010.

2 reasons for that I can think of. 1 hounds don't always have the protection of a human. 2 hounds are probably more prone to be thought of as true competition.

You were too quick, they added a couple more to the list. What a PITA these things are.

It isn't like it's one of those deals where it happened to someone far off either. I know 2 of the guys who are on that list. One of the Depredations took place in a section where I've hunted numerous times in the past.

I did have to smile on sunday though because I heard someone hit one with a car near where we hunt. It also had been sitting the heat awhile and was starting smell bad. BUT the DNR will have to take the time to examine it. I hope that stench makes them gag. I just feel sorry for the deputy that had to deal with it.

This is what baflle me and I realize the DNR has their hands tied. The ORIGINAL population goal was 350 wolves, we are now over 700 without spring pup counts added to the total. How can they not be delisted or managed, when they are over DOUBLE their population goals. How can a FEDERAL judge keep their seat when they continue to block these delisting process when it is blatantly obvious they are doing it with the HSUS and PETA in their pocket. What would happen to you or I if we were double our budget or projections. You'd be out business/work faster than you knew what to do. Not the good old Government, though.

It's pretty obvious these things are a problem in the State. Does anyone know if the state has the authority to enforce the fines for killing one of these POS, or would you get prosecuted federally. If the state has the power, why not just put the fine at $10 until they get back down to manageable levels.

Nick, i know where your coming from on all the matters. They twist and turn all this in the court systems until they get the right people and judges to rule their way. No different then the spearing issures years ago. To make you even sicker, one of the guys which works for the usda, inspecting kills, also is a hound owner, and had a wolf kill his dog, a year ago. Problem is he didnt report it, because he only has a few years to go, before retirement. So guess what, in cat season, the sob, was over here cat hunting, because the wolf population is minimal. He should be ashamed of himself in several ways, and when i bump into him in the woods, he would be enlightened on selling out everyone, including his fellow hunters, and dogs. Yes, it should be the state, and actually townships which regulate the wolf populations in their area. Adrian is a stand up lier as we well know, i heard the projections is over a 1000 wolves, but their trying to keep it quiet. Notice the votes is southern wi, and where is the dogs killed northern wi.

I hear ya Bud. The USDA guy over here is a hound guy too. He has to go investigate all the depredations in this neck of the woods. He hasn't had any killed of his own, but hunts in some of the most infested areas around.

I'm not sure if it was that Adrian or not, but one of these wolf fondlers approached a buddy at his house. Told him he had a wolf stashed in his freezer. Buddy asked him if he really looked that stupid. Guy told him well the collar is 55 feet from here. Is it THE collar or A collar, he walks inside grabs a 216 collar with the same frequency, plugs in the magnet and suggest they go look for THEIR collar. And these are the guys who get paid to keep track and manage our wolf populations.

I say ship all the F'in wolves to Buffalo County and see how fast this issue hits the fan. Those boys got some big $ and pull in the state and are pretty protective of their big whitetails. I bet a lot more would get done than a bunch of doggers who are losing a few hounds. That or ship all of them down to Dane County, those tree huggers can smoke their dope and live among them. It would save them the drive to come up all the way up to northern WI. Oh wait scratch that, they don't come up except maybe once a summer. They just sit down in suberbia and tell us rural people how great wolves are.

Nolte, the original population goal was 80 wolves. That was way back in the late 70's early 80's when they claimed Wisconsin did not have any until one showed up at a hunting camp on a deer pole in the Newwood area west of Tomahawk. Then they admitted there were around a dozen. The number just keeps climbing and climbing on what their population goal is. Get rid of Adrian would be the best thing to happen back there.

But, if you think you have it bad, come out here where the wolves are almost twice as big! The ones in Wisconsin are a lot smaller then these damn ones out West.
