What is the best feed for 8 meek old weened pups? Is there one puppy food that is better than the other or should I just start feeding adult dog food I know of two puppy last year that were started on black gold puppy and they both had growth plate and bone issues that I would like to avoid with my pups. Thanks

I am feeding the rotations puppy food right now, mainly because i found a smokin deal on it, 25lbs is usually $45 getting it for $15. Good ingredients, no corn. Also feedin em the real fatty burger from the grocery store raw once every couple days, no substitue for the good stuff far as raw meat goes.

Here is what I have found on dog food through the web, most of what we feed is junk, the stuff that is not junk is totally out of our price range. There are several independent site that evaluate different brands of food and most of the common big names are not recommended. Do a search of dog food on google and you can spend the evening reading about all the brands you can think of, I was kind of surprised about the brands I feed.

My $.02 is by the best you can afford and supplement it with meat or a good protein .
canned Mackerel, raw bone/meat from a butcher shop, goat's milk or milk replacer.

When I weened my pups I used Diamond puppy food (not the large breed stuff) it's for both new pups and prego moms. They got the Diamond in the morning mixed with goats milk and same for lunch and at night I gave them a mixture of the puppy/goats milk mixture, ground turkey, rice and cottage cheese. They pups almost doubled their weight in a week. Their coats looked awesome and they were just all in healthy. Now they are 13 weeks and they are on straight diamond puppy (still not the large breed stuff).
It's not to expensive at the pet stores like Concord or PetSMart ($25 for 40 lb. bag)
