Border Wars TV Show

Anybody watch the TV show Border Wars? It’s about the men and women that work for the border patrol on the US/Mexican border. There are many times when they are tracking illegals that have made it across the border. They use helicopters, infra-red camera and good old fashion tracking footprints. Every time I see them doing this I can’t help but think that a pack of mouthy hounds would make easy work of this job. The US is spending millions for helicopters and night vision equipment and a ton of personal. I sure would think some hounds would easily be able track these people and lead the agents right to them. Maybe we need some houndsmen to train a couple hounds to track people and take them down there and show them how it’s done.

I second the hounds. The only problem is that what hound would you use? You would need the hound to herd them up and hold them at bay without biting them until the agents got there to arrest them. Seems like maybe a collie or heeler would be better suited. lol

I was thinking the same thing. I would have to go with the blackmouth cur or catahoula(spelling???). I would think either of these dogs would fit the bill. The dogs would just have to be bay dogs as the border patrol doesn't like one with much bite in them. I know several handlers that had to get new dogs because theirs were biteing too much. The downside is that these dogs would get killed often. Drug smugglers carry guns most of the time and wouldn't hesitate to kill a dog to get away. I personally would sign up for this program if they ever had one. NO SEASON AND NO BAG LIMIT!!!

Maybe 2 or 3 hounds with like 20 Professional Pit Bulls would do the trick!
I am sick of them, from all places, not just Mexico. If you can't come to this country legally and learn to speak THE language, ENGLISH, then don't come here at all. Leave your drugs and crap wherever you came from, stop sending the money you earn HERE and sending it somewhere else, and fly the red white and blue flag outside your house, if you want to fly yours and talk about how awesome your country is, go back, you call yourself American, act like one!
What good is sending dogs in that won't hurt them??? They are breaking a massive law, they will very most likely try and harm those dogs when they get near them, possibly even shoot them.
Police dogs bite people, that is their job, when that cop says "go get 'em" they go! And they are not gentle about it.
If we put the fear in them, they will take the time to come here right, or stay outta sight!

Thanks. I know they have massively affected the little town of Show Low that I live in a lot.
Any teenager in Arizona who has tried getting a job anywhere knows how they have affected us. My junior year I applied for Walmart, Kmart, Subway, Dennys, JC Pennys, and Taco Bell. Wanna know what my job was? Cleanin out dog waters and doin whatever my dad needed done with the dogs so he didn't have to!
Something needs to be done... I don't know how much more fun living in a ""melting pot"" can be. If it keeps getting worse before better you might hear me say "eh" a lot more!
You can come to the US however you want, but if people from the US went somewhere without doing the proper stuff, we wouldn't even know what would happen to that person.
It's not just the illegals, look at the Time Square Bomber... Hmm. People only remember 9/11 and care about national security on that one day, then it's back to livin the good party life where everyone has rights and dreams.
I have the right to safety!
I have a dream that someday my daughter can get a job at a fast food place when she is in highschool over someone without legal ID!
Wish in one hand, crap in the other, see which one fills up first

Are you the Shorty that Mike Leonard said liked the 250/3000 If so would like to hear about some of the bullets and loads that you use as I have one and used it for years but only with 100 gr bullets I just got a box of 75 gr loaded to about 3300 ft per sec and wonder do you think they would be good for deer in the 140 lb class thanks for your time retired

It gets too hot for dogs too fast.
I retired out of the Border Patrol after almost 30 years and have often helped the prison system with tracking and their dogs quit quick in the heat.
The only way we found to do it was for a man to stay on the sign and keep rotating the dogs.
We went through a lot of dogs.
Also, there are places where several fresh trails crisscross each other often and one trail may have been caught. Dogs can't tell a tennis shoe from a huarache.
Not any that I know of anyhow...
Eyes on is the only way to do it.
Too bad the Border Patrol doesn't still teach signcutting.
Just my take on it and no, I don't watch Border Wars. The lint in my navel draws more attention than that.
