Astro Repair problems

I was wondering if any of you have had problems after getting an Astro repaired from Garmin.
My friend sent his in 4 separate times and each time it came back worse than the first time he sent it in.
I have had several friends having the same problem.
Garmin changes the serial # and sends them back.
When my friends get them back the marked locations are still in the unit.
It seems to me that the only thing Garmin is trying to fix is the dog tracking part.
Any ideas?

i personally havnt heard of this. i have had several freinds send in there broken garmins and have had nothing but good service out of them. they have sent in there old ones, got quick response time back with there replacements, wasnt charged for there repairs, and there garmins have worked fine since they got them back. i personally havnt had any issues with either of mine, maybe im just lucky.

I sent mine back and had a replacement back in a few days and it has worked fine. The service was great as far as I'm concerned.

I sent my old unit in last week, when I first got it I did a couple tests just to see the range hung a collar at my house and drove . Anyway I went to a spot that was 3 miles away and had full signal . I noticed lately the range was getting worse so i went back to the same spot and couldn't even receive signal anyway I lost a mile range ,this is with the truck antenna. Called garmin they replaced it this week got another this friday . Its worse than the one i sent back. a mile top range. It was a refurb. So i"ll be calling them tomorrow.

I have had the same problem and i think everyone should hang their collar in the front yard and drive off until you lose signal and do this for about a week. (Going to work or something) on the way home see where it picks up. Then you have a base line. If you think something is wrong repeat this exercise and you will then know if it is doing what it should. And always check it after sending it in for repairs or getting a update.
I just think some are better than others. But i bet they wont tell you that.

I did exactly that the other day and am getting between about 3-5 hundred yards with the regular antenna on flat ground. This is on a recently refurbished unit. Im gonna due the updates tonight and giver another go....god i hope it helps, if not shes back to Garmin it goes again I guess

well sent in my astro and got the same one back, atleast it has the same serial # ,I'll try it out and see what happens , so they either fixed the old one or just sent it back. They only had it one day.

houndcrzy I sent one back doing the same thing (could not track over 300 yards). (one of over 10 sent back for this reason) and when it came back it was working perfect but it would not track over a mile. (with the roof mount antenna) I sent it back and told them i wanted one that would do what everyone else's was doing the range was not acceptable. they sent me another one that perfermed like the one i sent back and i could then track like it was suspose to.
I have half a mind to offer one of these people getting the really good range with the garmin full price and let them go get a brand new one.
they are not all equal. if it was me i would send it back now and before you do call them and have them pay for the shipping both ways.
it just is not right for them to try to pass that junk off on someone.
