Up to three collars!!

Well, not really as some crackhead stole my shock collar, but I did finally get a tracking collar and reciever :D
The reciever is a F/L Electronics Quicktrack MN-10 at 217.000MHz to 217.099(used), and the collar is a brand new one from West Coast Telemetry at 217.017.

What I'm wondering is how to properly tune it? I've played with it in the yard (40' distance) and I can get good solid "beeps" but it doesn't matter which direction I point the yagi, it's just as strong in any direction.
Am I too close to the collar?

Your help is appreciated.
Tom.

Did you try turning the gain way down?

You are way too close, With it being a F&L you do not have an antenuator on your system like the quick track does(close, med, long switch). Take the collar out at least 100 yards and fool with it. Put your system on channel 1, tune 7 and slowly add a lil gain until its registering on your meter then tune it in until you get the most reponse on you meter and thats your tune. Just cause your collar says tune 7 doesnt mean your systems is gonna pick that tune up the best. I have a .062 collar from WCT and it tunes close to the 5.

Thanks for the advice.
I kinda thought I was too close, the gain knob just acted like a volume switch more than anything.
So the .010 is the channel, and the .007 is the tune, more or less.
Thanks for the help, being new, I need all the help I can get :beer
