reciever box issues

You may have read my other post where I was having problems with an older box that I got off Ebay, advertised as "in working order".

Anyways, long story short, I took it to a CB repair guy who checked the coax and antenna, and he said to tighten up on the rods and clean all connections. All was good and well when I decided to take it a step further and put new(more)rivets in. Then the damb thing was erratic and WAY off frequency!
So I opened up the box and found my battery leads were shorting out. Fixed that, then took it to a Ham store and he further checked everything out. While the antenna is far from purfect (as compared to his single mast), everything else was fine he said.
Got home and still was erratic, so out of frustration I opened the box and flooded everything with electric parts cleaner....now everything is working, not great, but better than ever before.
I can't recommend that this will work for you, but I imagine that the life these recievers lead, a little cleaning can't hurt.
And yea, it's right on frequency with my new collar and steady as a rock.
