Hunting with hounds in New Mexico

Hi My name is Mike and I live in Farwell,TX which is just across the border from Clovis,NM. I used to coon and rabbit hunt religiously until I got married. Now I'm ready to start running hounds again, but where I moved from (Hillsboro,TX) there were very few places to hunt with dogs anymore. I was hoping someone in New Mexico could tell me about what public land there is available and if I would be allowed to hunt bear, lion, and bobcat with dogs since I'm not a resident. I man at church told me that you could hunt lion year round on private land and that most ranchers didn't mind as long as it wasn't deer season. If that's the case I am going to start putting a pack together, but I don't want to get dogs that I can't hunt. I don't mind driving as far as I need to and I am very responsible and respectful of peoples property, but that wasn't to helpful back home. A few bad apples, mostly hog hunters whos dogs weren't broke off of livestock, can ruin it for everyone. As bad as the hog problem was, the land owners considered irresponsible and inconsiderate hunters a bigger one. I look forward to hearing from anyone who can help me or anyone who just wants to talk dogs. 254 580 8309
