I got a broken LR antenna for my garmin and I want to know if it will affect it very much. It only lost about 3 inches off the end so I wasn't sure how it would affect it. I found my dogs that day so it did work i just don't know if i should trust it. I also lost the original antenna that came with it. Where is the cheapest place to get a replacement? Thanks for the help.

Shouldnt hurt your range a whole lot and the little rubber antennas are all over ebay cheap.

I have broken mine more times than i will admit. i just clean out the socket that the antenna fits in and solder in a new antenna that i salvage off an old radio or car and have not lost any range that i can notice. but i have found when soldering the new antenna in the socket. clamp a big set of vise grips just below the socket to act as a heat sink as not to get the rest of the antenna base to hot.hope this helps.
