Tracking Harnesses

Has anyone here tried using a tracking harness on their dog vs. attaching a lead to the collar? What material was it made out of (leather, nylon)? Did it have a chest guard? Pros/Cons? What kind of dog do you have?
Thinking about getting one for doing scent training with my bluetick coonhound (4.5 mo). My thinking is that it will allow her to keep with nose on the ground while on lead. I have a nylon harness right now that attaches at the front. The idea behind this one is that it teaches your dog not to pull because they get spun around to the side if they to move forward too quickly. She walks okay on lead now, so I'm thinking of switching to a leather harness that attaches on the back.
Your thoughts?
