Bear and Hog dogs

I live in Texas and I'd like to get a pack of hog dogs going. Most everyone around here has curs, almost no hounds, and I've always used curs before. I'd also like to be able to use them on bear a few times a year, either in New Mexico or in California where my dad lives. Do any of you hunt curs on bear? And if so how do they do, or if you've tried some and don't like them for bear let me know.

Hey Andy, I use the leopard curs for bear and have caught hogs with them as well, they have a real good nose on them, good fast track dogs, basically as good as any hound I've hunted around but real smart and listen like a yard dog, they are open mouth track dogs and some hog hunters want a silent mouth dog, I like to listen to em myself. I like Cur Dogs:
I have not seen a whole lot of Cur Dogs used on bear hunting. Some are tight mouthed on track. Now this can be one of their greatest qualities.

I can say there has been some hunters that have used them around me in the last 30 years. Curs are very smart and if started out early on bears, they would make outstanding bear dogs.

I hunt my curs, BMC, Kemmers, and some hound cur crosses on bear and hogs with great success. My curs have yet to embarrass me on any bear race. I have some great young pups if your looking for something breed just for what your looking to do. most run silent on hogs, but tend to put a little more mouth when trailing a bear.
theses dogs run to kill, not just because they like the smell.
they won't win you any money at a treeing contest, but do locate well, and make plenty of noise treeing to know there treed.

I had some stephens that were fast, gritty, bayed great, treed great, and were calm natured around other dogs. I bear hunt in Tn and I see a lot of people bear hunt with cur's one week and than hog hunt with them the next...
