How old were you?

I was out to see how old most of you hounds men were when you started in this wounderful sport i am prettey young and just wounderd if i was the only one that started this young i am only in my teens thanks for all the replies.

15 or 16 first coon hunt and 17 when I got my first hound.

Pretty much the same here. Been going hound hunting off and on my whole life since I was born. When I was 11-12 is when I was really able to go. Had a few dogs that were "mine" as a kid, but my first official dog was given to me for my 18th birthday, branched out on my own, and soon the amount of time I spent in the woods, and the number of dogs went up. Thats been 6 years ago. Still have dogs from the same line my family had back when I was knee high.

Born into it. My dad had blueticks. Had my own beagles when I was 8.

My folks wouldn't let me have a dog when I was a kid. After my military obligation was completed I got into bear hunting with hounds at 24 years of age....that was 43 years ago and its still a big part of my life.

Started hunting with my Uncle when I was 8 yrs old, and had my own dogs since I was 10 yrs old.

For as long as I can remember. I always had a dog I called mine. But really started hunting hard when I could drive around 14 or so.

Went to my first cat tree with my Grampa at age 6 and he let me shoot the cat out with a Stevens single shot 22 Crackshot. Had some mutt hounds thru junior high and high school caught a few cats and a lot of coon. Started my own pack at age 18, and have been at it ever since, so 40 years on my own and 52 years since I walked up to my first tree with those old redbones and that cat. Like Big N Blue said..Man what a ride!!!!

I am 44. Had hounds my whole life.Hope to stay healthy enough to have them till the day I die.
