Sorry to hear about that. I decided that most the time if someone posts something it becomes a pissing contest and just a good ol boys club so now I just B.S. with the guys in the coffee shop. Some funny reading on there with that crowd and they never take anything too serious..... wait they take nothing serious. I guess one gets what they can from this site whether it be good bad or whatever. I have met some awesome guys on this site and some I care not to meet. It is better than not having a place to go to meet and read about hounds and people hunting hounds. :)

Hey there Bayhard, Dont get so depressed about it, I read your posts and would like to help, but frankly I suck, I get on these sites to learn new stuff or just read about my lack of knowledge, I am miles ahead of where I would be without this site, Lion hunting is pretty hard to find a deal on in most states, unless you want to go with a wannabe like me, and that alone would cause me all kinds of trouble ( unlicensed guide) and all. Dont you have lion in Texas? I would think it would be less expensive in your backyard than traveling out of state. Take care and good luck in your quest for a lion hunt, Ken

I am in the same boat as 2ndhound. I have taken a few friends out and gotten them lions but if I was to become a guide and start charging then it would take the fun out of it for me with all the stress of having to produce. That and I like to hunt near to home where my dogs can find there way home. No tracking collars ect...

I also like to read the stories and look at the pictures and I even learn something once in a while

from what i undrstand bout the lion business its hard to give away a hunt when your lively hood is based souly on guiding hunts and keeping paying customers. you figure all inclusive lion hunt guarenteed kill for ten days is between 2 and 3 grand just a guess. but you don't just pocket all that. i have a good friend that owns a guide service and i can't even get a discount.

I like this forum because there are some great people on here. It's not a "good ol boys club" its a great place to meet other hunters. The problem is a few people who like to put others down. Ignor them and you dont have any problems. A good example is Tessa's post of the cat she killed. I probably would of killed it to under those circumstances. It may not be right for some people but is right for others. I guess what I am saying is get a thick skin, don't be afraid to tell others to shut up and mind their own business, ask for help if needed but be prepared to stand on your own two feet. And as always get in church and put more effort into your prayer life. Jmo.

same thing in lion hunting around here plus there aint as many cats as some think. If I tell you where I hunt and you get a cat there thats one less for me to catch. It's not personal but thats how it is.

Try again, I am a sub-guide and its usualy $4500 for a 4-6 day hunt. NO GURANTEE!!! Some guys are getting $6k for a week long hunt.
I have sleds, trucks, trailers, a tracked rhino, tracking equipment, dogs, dogfood ect to pay for. I break equipment ALL the time and I have to pay to fix it. Plus its about $100 a day just in gas to hunt here. Then there's the other help to pay, hotel for client, advertizing, flat tires, leases, insurance, food, ect. I gurantee at $4500 the master guide I work for isnt making much...
