i am looking for everyones opinion on the traking equiptment they use or like best i was looking at the tracker maxima and the marshal 1000/4000 i dont know anyone who has one all the guys i know use wildlife materials how do they compare?

i have a wildlife trx3, and the garmin gps. the trx3 is a good system, i still put the wildlife collars on for back up. the gps has not failed me yet. it saves a lot of guessing. if you do lose signal with the garmin it shows you where you last had signal, it shows you where the dogs are and what they are doing, average speed, and distance traveled. just my opinion but i would go with the garmin

Marshall is by far the best system out there, lot of guys will argue this but there collars and recievers are the best for range and pin-point accuracy, know an outfitter in Alberta that has switched and is selling all his other systems this is a guy who's living depends on the best. Check them out you won't be dissapointed I promise.

I have to agree I spent a few phone calls with this fine outfitter and he is not disapointed that he switched from Johnson and wildlife to Marshall Go with the Feild Marshall 4000 you wont be able to beat it. They are also talking about it on the UKC biggame board and how they are also switching to Marshall.

marshal collars are the beat but the receiver did not impress me the marshal collar teamed with a WLM reciever works the best

I've been a Wildlife Materials man for most of my hound career and my hunting partner uses a Marshall Stealth, so I'm intimately familiar with both. But when my Wildlife receiver finally gave out after 17 years of reliable service I bought a Quicktack QTR 6000 receiver and I gotta say, so far I'm impressed. The range and accuracy seems every bit as good as these other receivers and they are not as bulky as the Wildlife bluebox and they are half the price as the Marshall Stealth.

I dunno, maybe in a couple of years I'll have a different opinion but right now I feel I made a good choice.

I'm with Kevin D I've used wildlife forever but love my QTR 6000. No experience with marshall. I hate the QT 5000+

I see I'm out voted, but I will say my Tracker kicks butt! How it compares I dont know, I do no however, I have yet not 2 pinpoint or a dog. My buddy has a marshall and it seems pretty good if u like to pack it. just my opinion.

I've had the Wildlife Bluebox 1000 for 19 yrs. now and I think it's the strongest box receiver out there but also is at the top of the list for hardest to carry and bulkey. We also have a trx 10 and a maxima tracker. I'm amazed at that little maxima trackers ability to locate the almost exact direction -vs- the wildlife which only narrows it down to 180 degrees. The blue box never leaves the pickup or pickup hood because I just spent 230 dollars getting it fixed from banging around in the dog sled. We take the tracker when we leave the pickup, although it's so tiny we actually lost a brand new one last winter. Whew! that hurts.
They never had collars when I got started. Had to have a dog that could bark real loud or put cow bells on them. Had to use smaller bells because the big cow bells beat the daylights outta the dogs front legs. Been there dun that. That was a few dozen dogs ago. gotta git. Bill

I have a magnum 8000 digital system and I must say that it has been very reliable. You also have the option, if the battery pack dies out, to use standard AA batteries. Another awesome feature about it is that you cant scan almost any freq from 150's-170's and also your 215-222 freq. Magnum also sells the carrying case that attaches to your belt for the 8000 and a carrying case for your antenna aswell.

I like the tracker Maxima!

Does anyone know if there any problems running those Marshall long range collars with the tracker maxima reciever?
On the marshall site the recievers say they're sold out... I also cant see them being worth that much more than the Maximas ?
