i notice alot of guys dont carry much coon hunting and that makes since i wouldnt wanna carry more than i have to either..but do any of you carry anythin extra?i carry a backpack and in it i have a few things:
1.rope
2.a knife
3.tracker
4.extra gloves
5.extra hat
6.ammo
7.camera
8.a trash sack for putn coons in
9.extra lead
10.coupler
11.occasionally an extra light and sometimes walkie talkies
12.some times extra socks depending upon where i go
13.duct tape for alot of things


im gonna start carrying some water and jerky cause lately iv been on some walks..the walkie talkies i take when im hunting in steep hills so me and dad can split up to look for the dogs and the rope is mainly because i like rope i guess,the knife comes in handy for alot of things,and alot of stuff is just extras..its no a very heavy back pack and carrying it isnt much different than huntin without it..i just see it comes in handy alot,oh and i carry my cell phone,that way when im huntn alone i can call dad and tell him if iv got somethin cool i think he should see,like when i put a huge boar in a cave or when i got 3 in one tree the night he said he didnt want to go

Gun and what ammo fits in my pocket, Flash light, 1 Leash, and my G3 tri tronics controler thats it and the G3 and flash light go on my blet. The leash works good for a rope if I need it and the G3 and tone is all I use, dont leash my dogs up unless I got a hurt dog.

at the risk of being a gear queer. i believe everyone should carry some items. no reason not to be ready for those days. different areas have different requirements for sure.

It depends on the season. But I always carry lever action .22, .22revolver. Headlight, and flashlight. A good coon skinning knife and a tail stripper.
In the winter I will throw on the backpack and carry along a shovel, axe, crowbar. This year snowshoes are a must. The longer the season goes on the more stuff that ends up in the backpack.

i carry pretty much the same stuff as most of you guys, i too try to go as lite as possible. the one thing i will never leave home with is a leatherman. I left it home once and that was the night my one dog tangled with a porqupine what a mess.

i got a nitelite vest. it has pockets for my garmin , tritronic controller ,small flashlight 22shells ,gloves , has a game bag on it , carry a pistol on my lightbelt, a compas, one dog leash. extra cargo if the kids go alonge.

so i'm pretty loaded down, gonna have to make room for garmin here as soon as i get my check from the fur auction

i must be the gear queer. i hunt alone in big woods and try to be prepared for most situations. i carry a backpack and wear bibs. in my bp i carry a two way radio, game shears, first aid stuff for dogs, benidryre in the summer, extra pen light, extra AA cells, gps, mini saw, sheath knife, money, trail markers, length of small rope and cord, bag for game, pen and paper, wipes, gloves and crew hat when cold weather, leather gloves for rough areas, lead(s), squaller, container of coins, whistle, two bic lighters. wallet, keys, cell phone.
in my bibs i carry, another l.e.d. pen light, pruning shears to cut vines, compass, transmitter, hunting licenses, a few trail markers, pocket knife.
in the truck, i carry, a hand winch, jumper cables, two tow strapes, gun and bullets, main light, spot light, jacket and coat, tracking system, binoculars during squirrel season, 2nd two way radio. i don't want to spend a night in the woods without being prepared. it's just a matter of time before it happens. i should carry a drink and trail bars.
i've been meaning to make a check list of all this stuff so that i won't forget anything. i hate getting to the woods and finding i have 22 shells for use in a shotgun.

I try to pack light! I used to carry a backpack but learned most of the stuff in the backpack could stay in the truck. I carry 2 pocket knives,light, chapstick, the 220 handheld, a can of Grizzly fine cut natural, a box of ammo, cellphone and a rifle. I leave something to munch on and something to drink in the truck. If I'm not hunting near water, which 9 time out of 10 I am, I keep water for the dog.
