What is the best way to make a dog as far as the way you hunt them? I like hunting on mules or horses but i dont own any so i only get to do this when i go with friends that have them. I also like hiking canyons but it seems like i dont find as many lions doing this as when im cutting roads but i hate having the dogs just sitting in the box. So what i want to know is what way do you think you make the best dogs? I know just hunting them makes a dog but which way do you prefer?

In my opinion hunting off horseback is the best way to evaluate.dogs, they seem to hunt better with you, they hunt at a good speed, and get exercised, plus your riding evaluating the dogs the whole time. On the other hand you will proably catch more lions running roads, being able to cover more distance, check more crossings, so your percentages go up. I hunt both ways but prefer hunting off horseback which ends up in a hike usually.

i believe it as a lot to do with the area your hunting, i started hunting wyoming this year only to find that as soon as the snow flew all the good lion hunting was snowed in, and me being a road hunter it cut my tracks down to pretty much non existing cause its such a big area a cat wouldn't have to cross a plowed road all winter, as for making a better dogs, my opinion on that matter is the more cats you get them on the better they will be, regardless of how you do it, i used to walk for tracks and didn't really see my dogs hunt any harder, most of the time they winded the track down off in some side canyon, but i aslo only hunt in the snow, dry ground is a totally diffenent story and your dogs needed to be trained differently to a degree
