Well i am a green horn in hound hunting and i am loving it so far i have a newbe qwetion for you i have a 7 month old hound that i am training to hunt lion it has seen a lion before but it is now starting to trail I was running him on a coon hide till i got my lion scent in and now i do and was woundering if it would help to get him to know that the lion scent was what i want him to run and trail so he would start to trail the lion sent is that i do have some tanned lion hide and if i just put some of the lion sent on the hide and let him play around with it and chew on it if it would help any with the training proses and i do have a 4 year old trained lion and brear dog not competly finished but almost i am open to any ideas.

I'm a greenhorn myself. But I don't think the tanned hide would do anything for you. The sent is what he is going to be after.

Here is an article that was written for making a Cat drag that seams to work well. I don't do much drags, but when we did this it was by far the best Drag I've ever layed out and made the dogs work better than draging something through the woods..

Best thing to do is Start chasing lions and keep turning him into them.. once they see a couple lions they seam to figure it out pretty quick.

Thanks that is good info and i will be doing that.

in my opinion it would help make him more gritty, and not be afraid to get in there if he's already chewed on something that didn't hurt him the first time, but it could also get him killed real fast if they have one bayed up on a cliff and he goes running in thier and bites it, or just might make the lion climb.
