Do any of you guys run yotes under dry ground conditions?

I prefer to run on dry ground, it gives the coyotes a level playing field. Dogs caught 5 before we had snow last fall, but ran a lot more well.

Good deal. I've had a few races on accident, but was thinking about trying to have a few on purpose. We have pretty big open country here and alot of yotes. Thought it might be fun to see if I could get some to bay up.

Yes..fox as well. I run during the summer.

do you guys rig em or freecast and hope they come out with one. are you running straight coyote hounds?

I run straight foxhounds and free cast

we have snow here most of the time in ny, but when we do not we do just as well on dry ground.

I like to put trail cams on baits, lets you know what you have going on. I also road the dogs, if they leave the road for any amount of time they will usually jump one. I also prefer to run at night, winter or summer. I just think you have better running

I give u guys credit for runnin yotes in the dirt. I've heard yote runs while bear hunting between me and other hunting buddys and they seem more of a boowoo run. there might be a few runs where the hounds scream a yote but not very often. I guess I blame the country we run, green swamps, tags, rivers. creeks. Seems like I drive 60 miles north and an average dog here runs like a top notch dog to the north. Different scenting conditions?

My summer running is at night. I go about 10-11pm when running fox. I have a little spot that has fox and we do not kill any. Just run. I also free cast between 3-4am when running coyotes during the summer. Usually get 2-3 hr runs on both.

muttrunner I run coyotes in the same areas I run bear. Sounds like similar running conditions (swamps tags balsams, and hardwoods). My dogs dont boo woo but there are days they can stand on their heads.
NY ditto on times for fox and a little earlier on yotes, but they do seem to run a little longer than just 3-4 hours. Couple of my dogs dont know quit and sometimes it makes for long dragged out runs. I have nights when I wish they would quit. Most of my dogs are broke to the horn and the others hate to run alone so it isnt always bad. They always stay at the catch though, that is always a good time to end a race. I did shoot a couple fox there this winter, always love a good fox race, dogs never kill them.
