Garmin Antennas Again

OK I've tried the Garmin telescopic antenna, the roof top magnetic mount antenna and have found them to have about the same results (range). I find the telescopic too fragile, made to break.
Now I have the Diamond 16" antenna that has been mentioned on some of these posts. I,m not sure that it gives enough range for my needs.
Is there any reason that the roof top model could not be made in to a handheld version with the same good results

if they made them more durable then we wouldn't buy as many a we all do.its a money thing. they will make just enough upgrades so tey can sell the beter product for a litle while thenupgad i again and fix smething that wasn't broken (dc 40 collars) force them on us fora little while then make an upgrade and we'll all start buying them. its gonna continue till someone in the hunting fild comes out with something thesame or better

I have a couple antennas coming to test out that should be very durable. I don't know how they will do for range. They are custom Made by some Hog Hunters in New Zealand. He read my Reviews and wanted me to test and review his antenna. Should have it in a Week or two. I'll try and let you know.

I'll be watching with interest any antenna options. I hate to be in the woods and loose the signal due to a poor antenna. Even the good ones could be improuved I think. Terry

As far as roof mounts go,if you hunt alot and in alot of brush with your rig.Goto Silke Radio, and have one made---there's NO comparison, way tougher and better range than the Garmin.
