So the lion population here in Utah just like most other states is gotten terrible, alot of it has to do with us being terrible at conservation. So I thought we might help ourselves out and start calling out people we know who are killing what shouldnt be killed. Ill start it with a guy named Dave Ferguson outa Utah. In the past 2 or 3 weeks he has taken at least 2 females. one very young female out of hardscrabble, and another out of Liberty.

Hardscrabble is in the East canyon Unit. it is on the other side of bountiful, the same lions that roam the davis face also roam in Hardscrabble. I spend alot of time in hardscrabble and There has not been lion in there in about 4 years, this female showed up this year and we had left her alone for hope that she would stay there. Dave was given permission to hunt because it was thought he knew better than to shoot a female, seems he didnt care. our bad on that one. Liberty is in the Ogden Unit. the rumor is he has killed at least 3 other kitten/females but I cannot confirm that.

Seriously! Posting someone's phone number and name on here and where they hunt is completely wrong! No matter what they do hunting gives you no right to post peoples names, whereabouts and phone numbers without their permission. From what you say this information about what he has killed has not been confirmed so that is called hearsay. Even if it is true and he is killing females with kittens that is something your local game and fish agency deals with not for you to play vigilante and have people call and harrass him. Your post and this topic is immature and needs to be removed!

Timothy, do you have any PROOF of these harvests other than hearsay ? Do you really feel this is a productive way of combating this problem ?
P.S. please let us know when this guy shows up and taxes your a-- !
your way of addressing this issue is child like.

your right putting his number on was overboard and yes the 2 kills I did mention where confirmed one by a pretty well respected houndsman I know and the other by myself. And childish It may be but until we step up grab our balls and start policing ourselves it will only get worse. Your solution of calling the Fish and Game is actually funny though. And yes i do think that is is a productive solution to the problem. dont like it I dont care.

Hey "Big Horn Posse" - This is exactly the kind of forum that we should all be calling people out on. Unless you too, are guilty of killing females and kittens, why would you worry about it? These kind of idiots, that are killing our sport should be called to the plate.
Maybe you haven't figured it out, but our F&G departments don't really care. And if they don't care, it leaves the conservation to us. So please, just shut up.

I have only harvested one lion in my life back in 2003 and it was a mature tom. I don't care if I ever harvest another. I hunt because I love it and I love my hounds. But playing vigilante and telling who knows who what someone's phone number name and whereabouts is wrong. You don't know who is reading this board and what they are capable of. What if some crazy idiot takes matters into his own hands and does something to harm this person? You know it can happen. This is the internet and not only are there houndsmen on here, but who knows who. Seriously, think of people and their family's here. No matter what he does in the field out hunting you cannot post personal information on here about someone else. If he is breaking the law let the law handle it. That is what they are there for whether you agree with it or not.

was what a female or not? My lion was a Tom and he was not a young one. But that shouldn't matter I chose to harvest him and that was my choice.

You took one Tom he has taken at least 2 Females in the past 2 weeks. The fish and game does not care about the populations. If we are not going to police ourselves then no one else is. That means the sport YOU love will not be around in the future because you did nothing as people like that guy go out and make a few bucks to ruin it.

Big Horn Posse - you completely missed my point. Which doesn't suprise me....
The "law" doen't care if we kill females and kittens. The "law" is making room for the new Northwest predator.
If it was legal, why would we care who is reading this board?
Get a clue, scold your own kids, and leave those that care about our wildlife alone.

Mike and you completely missed my point that my posts are saying it is wrong to post personal information about someone like their phone number, name, and whereabouts.
Also in Wyoming it is ILLEGAL to harvest a female with kittens and juvenile lions so if someone is breaking the law then turn them in and let the law handle it if they are harvesting legal lions then they have every right to do so. If you don't like the regulations in your state then find a way to change it or move. I have always been one to speak out for lion conservation and proper management plans. I have and always will fight for that.
I still think it is wrong for people to post personal details on the internet. 2 wrongs dont make a right. If this guy is breaking the law that is wrong but it doesnt mean it is also not wrong to post the guys personal details.

Hey Timothy, If you have a problem with me then call me. I can tell you where all the east canyon females have gone over the years. You also may want to get your facts and numbers right. Its pretty awesome that in one year of running a dog you have all the answers, so you may want to leave this be.
