I am lookin at getting some pups from back east shipped to here in utah and am wondering what is the better way to ship them by plane or a dog hauler any advice would be appreciated thanks

try this web sight. uship.com. i used it and got a dog shipped from utah to california pretty cheap. I called a few dog haulers and they wanted to charge me about 100 dollars more than what i got the dog shipped for. Also if you get a dog shipped on a plane you have to buy a crate, I think there is some other things that you have to do but i am not sure.

I don't know if they still do it, but years ago I had a pup shipped by train. As I remember, the rate was pretty reasonable.

For pups I would go with a plane. Less travel time

a couple of things to think about. using a dog hauler you may be exposing the pup to diseases and stress for a good long period of time. the other is sometimes it seems more issues arise with dog haulers. dog fights lost dogs etc. it far more common to hear of these with haulers then with planes. I would ask and call several referrence s and anyone else that you know who has used them. the other issues are temperature and time. I've driven across the country to pick up dogs and puppies more then once and only regretted it for the last few miles on the way home and that never last. I got to look at the dogs before I spent a dime and then the choice was mine. it's just a rule the least likely pup in the litter gets sent the farthest from home with most breeders.

How many pups are you getting? I have heard that if the pups are young and small enough that you can get two in a large carrier and get them shipped for the same price as one. If true then it would be quicker and probably as cheap by plane.

Go to delta airlines web site and call the pet shipping number.They must be over 8 weeks old, have a vet check done(w/ paperwork), and put them in a pet porter and ship them.Its easy, I have shipped and recieved a few dogs that way from right there at the SLC airport.

For pups, I'd go with flying them and ship 2 at a time. You just need a crate that is big enough to send them, water & food dishes, and a vet check. It's usually cheaper and quicker than a hauler. We had some sent awhile back and I think it was $350 for two of them and we got them in a couple hours vs a week.

Shipping is by far the way to go. With heat/cold/weather restrictions it can be a pain in the ass, but well worth it.

with the dog that you had shipped by plane did that plane manage to stay on the ground the whole way or is it when you had the dog shipped by air that you had a dog magically sprout wings. Sorry i can't help myself. But like i said earlier i used a web sight called uship.com it gives you the profile of the shipper, refrences on them and a bunch more and i got a 6 month old dog shipped from southern utah to nor cal for $175 might not be the best according to some people but more than likely the cheapest and i didn't have any problems at all.

Yes, shipping by plane. It's a pain in the ass no matter what way ya do it, with cost, arrangements, ect. But is way faster, safer, and easier on the dogs/pups.
