i'm usually not a big fan of sackett bred dogs for bear but i acquired two pups that are sackett lr bred 3 times in 3 generations. i've hunted dogs out of the majority of the dogs in the pedigree except son's rock river cord. do any of you guys know of any bear dogs that have relation to him? any info would be very muc appreciated. by the way they are nice sensable pups with lots of drive and hunt minded.

are most of those sackket jr dogs large as in 70 lbs+ plottpapaw.ive only seen three two males and a female . the two males were decent bear dogs not too speedy ,but always there. i dont know the full pedigrees on them they were other hunters dogs.

if you get the right crosses they tend to be around 55 pound males and 45 females. the ones i have are smaller and fast. they tend to make good bay dogs and bout 50% make cold nosed dogs and the rest medium. but some or most are large dogs

thanks for the info . the two males ive seen were good coltrailers big voices strong treedogs. they were sort of the beginning and end for bear chases for their pack they started the bear then the faster dogs took over and caught or treed it ,and when they caught up shortly afterward they would really roar being the glue especially when it came to treeing as not all the dogs in these guys bear packs were good treedogs or had very good voices.

alot of ppl may think i'm crazy but i always like to have a shot of lipper or clover in their to knock the size factor in the head.

Ive had great luck with lipper bred stuff. And it does seem to help with there size when crossed onto sackett bred stock for me any way.

these puppies have a shot of lipper in them so it helped out alot. keeping them off of the neighbors cat is a different story though. i believe they also go back to guess' deanwood drifter.
