Young hound not barking

I have two 10 month old pups getting started in the fox pen. Have been in the pen 3 times. One hound is doing great, jumping fox, tracking well and barking constantly. The other is also doing every thing well except barking. She runs with the other hounds but I don't think she is barking. The other hounds are screaming so I am not sure. I have heard her bark in her kennel so I know she can bark. My question is do some hounds start out like this and start barking latter as they hear the other hounds barking and learn from them or once quiet tend to stay that way. I like the breeding and want to make sure I give her enough time to develop but I also don't want to waste my time. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

more exposure and a roll caged coon if you can with other hounds. 10 months is young and every pup even those from the same litter will mature and advance at different levels.

if u dont like her send her my way.

she sounds like she is useing her brain , she might be in 2nd or third place and just trying to stay up , myself i like them to shut up and run . have u let her run one by herself. she might open by herself. if a dog is behind there is no reason to bark.

some dogs bark more than others and there is little you can do to make one bark more than its genes require. but, your dog may be a little slow getting its barks going or needs a little time to get its confidence up. give it time, that's all you can do.

I know all dogs mature different like people, When my dog hit 12 months it was just like i flipped a switch. She opened right up, and she never did before never once. Then one day she just did.

Gotta go with Coastrangecathunting....a young, inexperienced hound in hard, fast races may take several months of hard running before they finally settle in and open the way they are supposed to on the track.
As for the one that opened and "barked allot" right off the bat, it's my experience that the dog is either a natural track dog and is grabbing the front end of that track, or it's a mouthy babbler just barking chasing the other dogs that have the track. (if it's the latter, it will probably come out of the babbling stage). theres my 1-1/2 cents.

That dog that "barked allot", even though i dont know were you got that from because i said nothing like that, Has run with other dogs only a few times. When it hit 12 months it went from being silent to barking just once in a while on track. not babbling at all barking maybe once every minute until it was really hot. And she started trailing raccoons and opening up before i ever hunted her with other dogs.
