Just got back from coon hunting with some buddies. I had one old dog out and two yearlings. Heard the dogs tree aways out and my garmin showed treed. Then all went quiet and the two young dogs came back with tails between their legs and acting really funny. My older dog headed farther out then we heard a comotion and heard her yelp and then heard two coyotes start yippin in the same area as my dog. We an off across the fields toward her and she met us half way and acted real funny. The end of my garmin collar anntenae was ripped off her tail and back legs were bloody along with some on her back. Has this happened to anyone before? Never had it happen to me. I've heard coyotes in the past but niver had them come in like that before.

When coyotes have pups they get real territorial. I have seen them come into trees or to a trailing track and run the dogs off. I watched them come into my dogs last September and follow along the hounds barking at them until I ran them. That is how decoy dogs work and can be trained. It is fun to watch a good decoy dog bring in coyotes. Dewey

I had dogs locked on a bear tree a couple of years ago and when we got within 300 yards of the tree coyotes started yipping from all sides. It sounded like a dozen or so but never counted and my young little female yipped like she had been caught. In a second dogs going in four directions and believed that my big cur male was having none of that and picked up dogs for hours and scattered for miles.

i've had it happen 2 times. Witnessed several coyotes with a dog bayed up both times. One coyote died the first time and they all got away the second time.

seen and heard of many a gritty hound gettin killed by coyotes while out hunting. 5-10 coyotes can take down alot bigger animals than a hound. if we ran out of coyotes it wouldn't hurt my feelings. I had a big male coyote get agressive with my two dogs at a bobcat tree in febuary last year and he got his A$$ stretched so it can go both ways with them. just depends who's out numbered.
