Twist, (aka Andy) has offered to put up a Pup for donation to help the cost of the Website to raise some money. I told him that I didn't really need to do this since the website is essentially paying for it's self with the advertisements and such. Plus Many of you guys have been Gracious and given us plenty of business.

However, after thinking about what we should do.
I think we can raise some money that would go to an account to do something for Youth Hunters. I've talked with some folks already about this, and really like some of you to help figure out how and what to do with the money.

We can have some open discussion here about what to do and how to fairly make up some kind of Youth program. Whether it be finding Good Dogs for young Hunters, or Helping subsidize some equipment and Collars for youth. Or it could be to make prizes for a Youth Hunting Day or Event of some kind, Or take a youth hunting program.. There can be many ideas out there, We should figure out something that would be easy fair, and Productive..

I'm completely open as to what to do, I just think we could do something good from this website in regards to Youth hunters.

What I would like to do is appoint a couple members to over see and evaluate a youth program.

I'll be setting up the tickets soon. Andy can fill you in on the Pup's as I don't know much about them. What I'm looking for is finding a way to make a good and fair Youth Program here.

Buddy,
Thinking is obviously not my forte, but there already exists several types of programs geared towards kids learning how to shoot firearms and bows. Not everywhere however.
But if it could piggyback off one of those programs for the big brother/big sister hunting deals, that might assist in some of the vetting, and sponsorship.
Groucy, opinionated, cantankerous...ah never mind...thought I was in the coffee shop again.

I think this is a great idea. I am a huge supporter of all youth hunting and education programs taking place today. I grew up with a huge desire to hunt and no one to learn from. My dad put me in hunters safety and helped me in those aspects but he was not a hunter so couldn't teach me to hunt. I had to teach myself everything, which meant not actually killing any big game until I was 20 years old. Now I had some projectile in some animals quite a few years before that, but at 20 I walked up on my first dead buck(with a pse pro arrow buried in his neck from 76 yards!). It would've been nice having someone to teach me for the first six years after hunters safety. People need to step up in their communities and find kids like I was. Kids who want to hunt but don't have the means to successfully do it. Bring them hunting with you. Lets help these kids learn the right way to do things. I'll buy a ticket for the puppy raffle and I'll do anything to help support any other youth programs we can get going. I'm tired of seeing the youth grow up without learning anything useful in life. Out with the x box in with rifles.

Buddy, I have to admit that is the best idea you have had yet. Count me in for a few tickets. Would be nice though to have the option to not be put in the pup raffle. Some of us have no need for one, but would be glad to donate.

Count me in as well Buddy sounds like a great idea. Anything we can do to help the youth of this sport im all for. I think for far to long it has been an older man sport and it nice to help the young ones that will be keeping this sport alive. Im with Steve on the part of not needing a pup right now but more then willing to help any way I can.

You could buy the tickets and if you win donate the pup to one of the youths in the program or one you know. Just an option.

Buddy, helping the youth is outstanding.
Due to the geographic spread and diversity, a "youth day" would be unfair to most.

I would suggest a "higher education scholarship", reserved for those in wildlife &/or public lands management, wildlife enforcement, vet sciences, or the like.

Raising monies for a scholarship is a great idea and wouldn't be hard to do or to keep it perpetual. It doesn't address the needs of all youth, but would fulfill some. I would like to here from some youth on this matter or some of those young men and woman that have needs because they have gone on to college and are trying to get a degree in one of the science fields or law enforcement. I know there are some needs out there. We have had folks ask for things here on this site some with real needs and other well not so good of intentions. Lets hear some more thought and ideas.

Not sure how the idea a raffle tickets for a pup got thrown in here, but I'm in for a few. Besides, if I were to win, it would be an easier sell to my wife on getting another pup!!! :beer

Maybe some sort of a mentor program? Set up a list of volunteers that would be willing to take kids hunting, even if it is for a training session with the dogs. Get with the boy scouts or boys and girls clubs, let them know we are willing to take a couple of kids out and teach them how much fun can be had out in the woods. Give the kids the chance to learn with out books and the antis that influence those books.

I don't have a ton of time to set this up as nice and methodical as the previous Raffles. But then again I'm doing this for an entirely different cause and Hopefully, I'm not going to be the one deciding how to spend the money that is raised.

Since It' difficult for me to pay myself on my own website, I will pay 50 dollars for 5 Tickets, If I win, the Pup will be donated to the Youth Program.

Again, I really expect you guys to drive this and hopefully find someone or a group of folks that can help Manage and work out the details for this program as I simply don't have allot of time and I don't want it to fall short. I'm swamped finishing a shop, Running Electric, websites, and Trying up with Orders and Garmin.

So in short, As always this site and idea is bigger than me. Let's raise some money and figure out what to do with it.

You can buy tickets here.

Nice, Buddy. So, since this is not for anyone but the kids, can we post it on our Facebook or whatever to help direct some traffic?

Buddy this is a great idea, I am a youth hunter I've been running hounds for 3 or 4 seasons now, and I think the best thing would be a mentor program, because where I hunt most roads are gated and it hard to find good spotts to run dogs, and then if the mentor already had a tracking box the youth that he is mentoring would only need a collar for his hound, it would also be cheeper on gas. So my vote is for a mentor program, we could save up money for gas for the mentors to take the kids hunting, and maybe we could talk to a telmtry company and try to get some new tracking collars for a better deal and make kind of a package deal with the tickets that would go to a youthh, like a tracking collar some leads a regular collar maybe a dog house and a tie out chain, and what not, but that's just some ideas
