Just wondering if im the only one having super bad luck with porcupines! In the last year in a half I have had 5 run ins with them up here in the arizona white mountains! I see them everywhere they are getting on my nervous! What's the best way to break them off of porcupines? Without letting them get a face full of quills! Any info would be greatly appreciated thanks kyle

all i can say is catch ya one and put it in a live trap and put it in your yard shock collar the dogs and if they go to bark at it zap zap till they get the idea you dont want them to go after them

Basically use the same prinicples already outlined but I hang a fresh kill on the fence up wind and away from the dogs. As soon as I see them working the scent cone in towards it i shock them. Has worked for me even on some stubborn dogs.

I saw 3 of them last night while coon hunting, the first one he worked for a few seconds and i realized what it was and shocked him off of it. then we ran into two up the road he sniffed one and got a few quills on the side of his face, i shocked him again and he just moved on.

As a kid, we had none. Now we have them everywhere. I saw four the other morning while hunting and after I loaded my dogs when in and took care of two I found around one windmill. Luckily, my dogs have been leaving them alone.
Adios,
Gary

Are the dogs getting the porkys while freecasting or in the middle of a jumped run? If they are running a track and then sticking...........on a porky, you might have one rattle headed dog that does not realy want the game pulling the others in. Been there.........done that......remove that dog! Terry

I went out Saturday night with a friend, he brought his 2 dogs. one is older and the other is my dogs age about 15 months. his shocking collar is broken, so he hasnt put one on his dog yet. I saw Xbox start winding somthing then he ignored it and kept going, my friends dogs then winded it and opend up on it hard. Xbox came running back with them, they had it in a bush when we arrived and Xbox seen me and started acting like he had done something wrong. My friend then started yelling at his dogs because he saw what it was. I shocked the shit out of Xbox and he ran and hid in my truck! We put my friends pup in his box and hunted the other two. about 20 minutes later Xbox put a coon in a tree and held it. at least I know he knows better, I think he is close. At least he has been smart enough the last two times to not get quills, I think he just sits back and lets the other dogs get the quills!

Thats cause your dogs suck...... except the stolen one...... and you better hope he doesent get em as bad as that time on the creek no more, that sucked balls man, and those babies suck worse, i think I'd rather pull the big quills....screw those little quills...
