rigging coyotes/road hunting dogs

im new to the coyote thing. i coon hunt and here in southeast Georgia we can run deer with dogs if we have enough land. my coon dog will bark in the box if she winds a coon on the road and 90% of the time she can run and tree it. our deer dogs bark in the box if I pass where a deer has crossed the road. will dogs do this with a coyote? i went to a coyote pen a few nights ago and one of the dogs would bark in the box on occassion and if we stopped there would be coyote tracks but surely she should smell them in a pen full of coyotes, would she do this in the woods with a coyote track? would it be better to ride her on top of the box?
