has antbody tried the Timber Chopper redbones or the Wagner knightrider black and tans on hogs , bear , or lions . If so how dod they do speed, grit, stamina, ect .thanks in advance

I tried em both. I had a bunch of Wagners and they did really good on bear and some of them were good lion dogs. They have good noses, grit and they are tough footed to boot. A little hard headed and trashy but once you get them broke you have a good dog. Usually very good mouthes on them and nice to look at. I have seen some Wagners cross dogs that are high tans from coastal California that are outstanding cat and bear dogs. I believe Boone Shockley started the cross and it was Wagner Black and Tan on Nance Walker.

Timber Choppers I have only had a few but the red dogs I had were very good on bear but a little too hot nosed for my liking on lions on bare ground.

I have never hog hunted but i sold some Wagner line black dogs to some hog hunters from Oklahoma and they said they were also very tough on hogs.

I was begining to think I was not liked very much or the black and tan vs redbone was a touchy subject . Thanks for the info very helpful I ve been doin my homework on diffrent hounds and have narrowed it down to these 2 lines . Im in plott country and own a full plott and a plott cross but I want something diffrent but good , the pickings of black and tans and redbones down here are slim and mostly either used on deer or coons . I need a trail dog that will stick the track till its done and stay there regardless till i get there . Treeing a coon and staying there and baying a hog and staying there are 2 diffrent things . On top of all this its got to be fast and rough enough to run the hog down and then MAKE him stop, again thanks for the info anymore comments will be appreciated
