I know there are several posts on here reference worm medicines all ready, but this one is specific to two certain brands. Hope to get some feedback from this.

I am currently worming my dogs with the following and am trying to make sure that what I am using is getting all the worms, round/hook/tape/whip and heart. I am also trying to see recommendations on how often I should be using them. I am wondering if I should be using the safeguard paste for 3 days in a row, like some regular dog wormers or just once a month or what. I also am looking for suggestions no how often to use the ivercare (ivermetcin)

Using Safeguard (fenbendazole) 10% paste wormer for hook/round/whip and tapeworms. I am wondering and wanting to make sure it will rid of each one and how often. I put the paste on usually from the tip of my point finger back to the first knuckle and run it on the inside top of their mouth

Using Ivercar (Ivermectin 1.87%) paste for heartworms. Also noted it says it rids round worms also. Just wanting to see if anyone else is using this and to make sure it is good for heartworms. Also, any suggestions on how often to use it.

instead of ivercar I use zimectrin gold, its a one stop shop!

We use Zemactrin Gold once a month. If we get a new dog/young puppy, I'll either buy some Safegaurd or take it to work with me and give it some Drontal Plus, make sure I clean it out.

But for monthly maintnance, it's the ZG.

Ivomect or Ivomectrin here for the heartworm. I don't worm for other worms once a month. Normally every 3 months. I use the Safegaurd goat worming, 3 days in a row, or I go and spend about $80.00 on a bottle of Pyrantel Susp from my vet that lasts a really long time..

Here is the breakdown for converting the amount from the goat dose to dog dose.

The dog dose for Fenbendazole is 50mg/kg or 23mg/# given orally for 3 consecutive days.

You have a 10% solution which is 100mg/ml. So the dose for a dog would be .23 ml per pound or 2.3 ml per 10#. A 50# dog would get 12 ml. The dosage for dogs is usually much higher than other species for fenbendazole. In this case, the dog dose is 10X higher than the goat dose (5mg/kg) so a 100# dog would get 23 ml of Fenbendazole (Safegaurd) 3 days in a row.

Does Zimectrin Gold take care of whip worms too?

Just boil an egg and remove the yolk and replace it with chewing tabacco. Works like a charm.

I use liquid panicure the horse and cattle wormer. It is 1 cc per 5 pounds and it takes care of everything except heart worm. I give it 3 days in a row and then once every 3 months. Then I use liquid invromec ( my vet added distilled water to it) I give 1/2 a cc per 10 pounds for heart worm. This seems to work good for me.

Yes thats what Im talkin about But yes Safeguard makes a dog wormer.Trouble is its more expensive than the horse .I guess just because it says dog.

Any wormer with pepperzine in it works great, but for hart worming ya dont need a vet/ just use hog or pig wormmer it is in a blue bottle and it says comtains pepperzine ! Its hard too find in some places cause when anyone hears about it use good for dogs/ the supply stores take the pig wormmer with pepperzine off the shelves so they don`t loose money & sales for preventive stuff and all that BS !

it works real good to !No real down time maybe 3-4 days tops an its safe too hunt the dog again! I seen Don Poore use it on a dog that was give too him cause it hart works real bad and he gave it the pig wormer and hunted that dog the net night/ by golly he lived and got over it and was soon ok.

The reason people are nervous about selling wormers that kill heart worms in dogs is that the dead worms can break up and move into smaller blood vessles and kill a dog that is running hard. (Basicly a blood vessle to the heart musle gets blocked and the dog has a heart attack. ) Now this don't happen all the time but often enough to make people nervous about liability ect. So thats why a test to see if the dog has worms and the recomended down time with little or no excersize if there are heart worms present.
