white dogs

A friend of mine has a top strike dog gyp hound cur cross mostly white and his grandpa told him to pick the white pup out of the litter that it was a throwback to the hard hunting walkers and birddogs that were mixed in years ago. Don't know if anyone has ever heard of this. Seems to be mainly coming from the oldtimers.
