How much is a fully functional Dog worth!?! Im talkin a good dog thatll strike off a truck, run what you put him on (lion bear coon bobcat), and trees till winter sets in. What is the range that an avid hound hunter would pay. Is it, You want quality you have to pay for it (1,000 2,000, +), or a hundred dollar bitch thats better than the rest? I leave it up to you....

fully functional to one person might only be half assed to the next. Not to many people like the same dog for everything it is, whethor it be the game it is trained to run, speed, stamina, voice, treeing ability, trailing ability, cold nose, hot nose, feet, age, size, gender, personality, even color and i am sure there is more to the list i could add. Reguardless i have seen dogs sold for $5000.00 even seen a guy offer $7000.00 for a dog and couldn't buy it. (Grade dog) I have also seen buddies spend thousands on a dog that i didn't think was worth anything but a bullet. So i guess it all depends on who you are dealing with how deep there pockets are and how bad they want what someone else has.

Outlaw13,

I have to very much agree on everthing you said, but I would also like to add one small point and that is the ability of the person that is buying the dog to create their own and the need at the time. What I mean by that is I have seen some very good houndsmen pay top dollar for dogs because of the need to fill clients or death of dogs or laid up dogs. I have also seen people value a dog less or more on the buyers ability to create/train their own dog. JMO

kevin,

You make very valid points also. different situations make for different circumstances.

Good points have been made. For me a bear or lion dog has no value because I do not hunt them and don't want want to get my bobcat dogs thinking anything but bobcats. Most people want to run bear or lion so they value them more. I would rather pay $500 t0 $1500 for a pup that I like than buy a trained dog. I like training the young ones and have may own ways and don't like a lot of what a older dog may already have in it. A good dog is wroth what someone is willing to pay and can afford it. $2000 to $8000. Them there is dogs that money can't buy. I have given dogs and pups to people that I would of never sold to anyone because I like them that much. Dewey
