Has anyone took a good look at the classified section!!!! :o :o always a pile of puppys from parents that walk on water :? :? really good running dogs but they belong to someone else and they are hard to get a hold of   and don't forget the finished one's that will lead anyone's pack but the one who is currently feeding it   . oh than there are the one's that the holier than now guides own that will blow the doors off anything that the normal human being ever had the opportunity to own, but it's just not good enough to be a lead guide dog for them :beer :beer . then there is the super super lead guide dog that has one foot in the grave and the other foot on a banana peel, but it has enough years left to train enough lead guide dogs for you to be as famous as their owner :D :D . poor Buddy tries to do a good thing with free classifieds and in reality may be doing more harm to the tree dog blood. was wondering if he should do away with it all together. or just charge a decent fee for advertising? just wondered what others thought? and remember if culling and raising truely top hounds was easy there would be many more good hounds available, and everyone would really be doing it instead of making believe to do it. bye for now!

My friends and I always joke if you want to be a dog jockey all you need is a few friends around the country talking up your dogs on the internet. This seems to work as there is sometimes three litters at a time from the same guy on the ground and you never hear anything bad about the guys dogs on hear but you talk to many owners that have had only culls. Yet 30 or more pups hit the ground each year.
The other joke is the amount of bear dogs being sold. You get coon hunters that tree a couple bears a year and sell the litters off as big game hounds. This is a sure way to sucker in the unsuspecting newbe into buying some less then tested hounds.

Here I was hoping someone had some stuff they considered junk free for the taking. I mean I am desperate for a few unwanted items people have. A wall tent, tracking collars, a truck, 4 wheeler, dog box, anything like that if someone doesn't want and considers junk I will gladly take as treasure

If you want you can have my virginity. Most people consider it junk(hence the fact i am still a virgin) but like you said it just might be a treasure to you.

I completely agree with the first post on here though in all seriousness. If more people would grow a pair act like the man they wish they could be and cull when need be instead of trying to pass there junk on to the unsuspecting the hound world and the quality of hounds would be a lot better. Times are hard i guess so the little man takes advantage and tries to make a quick buck.

I was just talking to a fellow yesterday about how the verbiage of the hound world is largely unchanged, but the dogs at the end of the description most certainly are not the same dogs my father and grandfather had under those same terms. If I were to sell you a dog, and made any statements regarding the strengths or weaknesses of the dog, I would be completely full of crap. I have no way of knowing these two things because I don't have the resources or experiences to label and ultimately put a price on the dog. However, in years past, I would have. But that was a different dog in a different environment. I think about half the people on here selling dogs learn the language long before they carry the experience, and to them the dog is as they say. To others it is not. The other half are salesmen. If I were granted access to all the land in Texas right now, and money wasn't an issue, I wouldn't have the slightest idea where to go to put together a solid pack, and it's been my experience that not too many people in Texas on BGH would be willing to help me. I have some ideas, but these exceptional dogs are usually not bought. They are made, and that is where the classifieds are probably lacking.

Well there are two main factors at play. #1 is most hound guys are liars. #2 is most hound guys are idiots. So that is sort of a recipe for a whole bunch of junk to get peddled.

On the flip side, I've seen nice dogs sold to guys without a clue and a crackerjack dog couldn't catch that guy VD in Hawns. And as Dawg has told me that is pretty easy to do.

Any half-assed dog peddler can see a newbie coming from miles away. The blood is in the water and he's just about already spent the money he's going to screw out of some poor sucker. If you've ever bought or sold a dog, you're going to get a lesson. Just make sure it's not an expensive lesson. Buy them under the tree or after seeing them hunt, otherwise you've got no one to blame but yourself.

Good dogs just don't get sold. And if they do, it's for a bunch of money to someone who knows what they are worth.

So my advice around hound guys is keep one hand on your wallet, an eye on your cooler and don't bring your wife/daughter/girlfriend or mother. Otherwise it's going to get ugly.

Yeah I know whatch you guys mean, where I'm from everyday I see someone new driving around with a dog box in the back, and the funny thing is nothings even open right now, but timber permits, and there over. And I know that all these new people arnt on a permit exceppt for maybe a few. I just think its really funnny, like one time a guy had his dogs on the box going like 60 tryiing strike somethiing, I just shoook my head, haha now I'm not saying I'm. A full on hounndsmen that hunts everyday, but I get out everychannce I gett, ha but I wish people would have to earn there dog boxs and dogs in a way to pprove that they arnnt just trying be as cool, and studly as we all are ahah

People that get into hound hunting for the wrong reasons dont last to long. Than we pick these dogs up looking for a diamond in the rough. It happens, but we are kidding ourselves if we expect it to happen. A hunter that is looking for a dog that will quickly turn their program around is setting themselves up for dissapointment. You can take a high end lead dog and throw it into a pack of low quality trash burners, but you cant expect this new dog to elevate the pack over nite. If the wrong decisions are made than the opposite is going to happen. I am also willing to bet a true lead dog is sold by word of mouth not the internet. A lead dog in my pack will stay there, replacing a dog like that is to difficult. About culling, culling sucks but its part of being a hound hunter, we dont need to talk about it but it needs to be done, be honest with yourself. If you know your dog wont make it, dont pass it on and make someone else do it. my .02 Thankyou John.
