Wolves are all over Wyoming now, but those areas they are pretty thick. Anytime you take a hound out hunting you are running a risk, not just with wolves, but freak accidents, extreme weather conditions, you name it. I just wouldn't be putting dogs down in an area with recent wolf activity. A good dog is hard to replace.

I bought 2 of Scott Leepers dogs ultimately due to the wolf problem up there. He lives in Bondurant which is that exact same area. Sold out everything - sick of dealing with the problem.
Google his name and read the story.
While I was at his house he showed me the wood dog box that sits on the back of the truck. The chew marks were on the outside as if something was trying to get in. Seems that after his first incident he had another instance where he came back to his truck after a run on the sled looking for tracks and found wolves on the bed trying to get into the dog box.
Its a bad situation for a lot of folks up there. People that have lost their livelihood guiding Elk ect.

I THINK HE KNOWS THE RISKS TESSA, and what would you know about replacing a good dog, you've never had one.

Hey there Booger,
All of these areas have good numbers of lions in them. Good quality cats. I live smack dab in the middle of all of those areas you mentioned. If you want an opinion, to stay away from wolf activity you'd be better off to hunt the piney side, and the greys river and the afton areas. There is some hunting pressure in there, but lots of good lion, and very little wolf activity. Bondurant is full of wolves. Due to the study, they have all but wiped out the lions in there by camping on the only food sources left in the valley during the winter. 90% all of the game migrates out of that snow buried icebox anyway. I think they recorded 11 feet of snow in there last winter

WHOA!! WTF? Who pissed in your Cheerios? What have I ever done to you Jason? You have never met me in person nor have you ever hunted with me or any of my dogs so how can you say that? I have always been nice to you, but even back 7 or 8 years ago you have had an attitude towards me. I don't get what your problem is?

Tessa, I could go on for hours about the truths I've heard of you and your BS. I'd LOVE nothing more than to put you in your place here on this site in front of the whole world, but I'm not going to contribute to your crap. Booger was just asking for some info about the nw corner of Wy and you (as always) had to stick your face in it and take your dig and try and let everyone know how important you are. Sorry bout all this booger, I kinda got carried away........You're welcome to come to Wyoming and hunt your &uts off! We got wolves, but we get around em. Hell, give me a holler when you want to come up here, I'll show ya around to some honeyholes

So you are going off of hearsay and not meeting me or my hunting with my dogs yourself. Hmmm a little quick to judge there aren't you Jason? I would love to hear what you have to say. Give me a call and tell me if you don't want to look like being an @$$ on here (307)388-5411

It's definitely not like it used to be Chance. These no quota and high quotas along with the removal of female mortality quotas in areas have taken their toll on the cats. Wolves are just another issue we have to deal with when hunting hounds. Area 19 used to be one of the first areas to fill, but now no one wants to hunt it cause of the wolves. More guys are hunting these heavily harvested high quota and no quota areas to get away from the wolves, but in return it is having a big effect on our lions in these areas. Time to makes some changes in our lion management for sure. Would be nice if Wyoming houndsmen would want to rally together to try to make these changes happen. But what do I know right? No one likes or listens to me anyway.

i was being sarcastic, anyway we dont have near the wolf population as alot of other places, if you scared for your dogs you probably shouldnt have them lion hunting anyway. the reason some areas have more harvests then others are probably because there are more cats there, not because people are scared to hunt anywhere else.
