I was wondering what other peeple do to clean their live catch traps. The leghold traps I would just boil with some alder bark to clean and discolor them.Butit's kinda hard to do that with a live catch trap.
Thanks in advance,
Charles

I dont clean them with anything. If its really bad in there I might take the hose to it but other then that I want the sent to stick with it. All my cat traps are used for only cats and I dont want that to change, same with coon and the others. I have a spot I keep my traps were not to much can get to it, I store my cat traps away from my other traps. As for color when I first get a trap or build one I give them a camo paint job and while the paint is still wet I hit the pans with a little dirt so it has texture. Then I let them sit out side in the weather on top of the barn for a few weeks.

Thanks livetohunt for the info. I will put it to use.Well i had the trap set out in my yard for some nuisance coon and caught a pack rat in it.No excuses but i got busy and forgot to get back to it for a few days.Well you can imagine the mess that was left...LOL
I want tp try building a few traps for bobcat this winter but i just have not had the time to do the research for designs or to look around here for cheap materials.Well that will have to go onto my todo llst when work slows down.
Thanks,
Charles

I assume your talking about cage traps since legholds are also a live catch trap. For cage traps, just pressure wash them off.
