Plan a hunt?

Anyone interested in trying to plan a lion hunt in the up coming season or next? I'm sure theres gotta be others out there that are itching to Hunt a lion, but cant afford to use an outfitter, And would get more satisfaction trying it with his/her own hounds. I know quite a few guys that have done it and were successful at it. The dog I have at the moment that would most likely do a fine job on a long tail, isnt getting any younger. Just curious if anybody would like to try it as much as I would? I dont know much about the process of getting a tag, but nothing else a little help in the right direction would be nice. Thanks guys!

You don't need to have a tag to just persue lions. Try getting a persut permit. That is a lot funner than shooting a lion. Pictures and leave it. That way you could find a local willing to take you.

Sounds good dan. Cosmo I'd love to take a vacation somewhere and see a few cats and take pictures, and also see if my dogs will run one. But in all reality if I was to take a trip to run big cats the sad thing is I would want to shoot a nice mature tom if the opportunity was there. I'm just your average working joe just getting by, and saving up the money for a trip like that i'd most likely want to harvest a nice mature cat if possible, if not thats fine too. Would just like to say that i've atleast tried once in my life time.

Nevada would probably be the cheapest and also has a year round season, they go by a quota system and some of the units don't get filled. I checked about 3-4 years ago and was told no training season and the cost for the tag and non-resident lic. was 211.00 Just a thought. Mike

Oldman, It looks like Ill be taking a trip with Cox and a couple other guys next winter. Montana looks like a good prospect. Lepcur montana isnt too much more for an out of state license, but they do have a $50 register fee if one is harvested. but every state ive checked on so far doesnt differ in price by much. will just be a little research, and advice from guys that have made the trip before that will help on the right decision.
