15 seconds sounds a little long to me on the ears. I have branded dogs on the hip with dry ice and held it only 14 seconds. I am sure someone on here has done the ears before and can give you some advice.

I buzzed the hair off the ear, covered the area in 90% Isopro, then held the brand on for 10 seconds. This has worked for me on a number of dogs.

As was stated by tman, I wouldn't go over 10 sec. You'l not get all the hair to grow back if you go over ten in my experience. I use the nitrogen and soak it with the pure alchohol as well and they come out nice. I do the same on horses and cattle except for longer time and some shaving with clippers. Truth be known the prettiest ,whitest, crisp brands I've seen were done with dry ice and acetone!

I like nitrogen on horses and cattle. Dry ice on dogs ear has given me the best results. I hold it on for 10 seconds with dry ice and 5 seconds with nitrogen on dogs.
