I had one of my hounds take up a new hobby -chasing the striped ones.
The best success I have had in getting the stink off is this recipe I learned in organic chemistry.

1 cup of hydrogen peroxide 2 drops of dish soap, and 1 tablespoon of baking soda spray on, wait 3 minutes and rinse off -done a couple of times will get the scent off the dog and decrease the scent on a collar to about half

I understand this to be a good way to turn a skunked black lab into a non-skunked chocolate lab.

Just don't ever try and jar it up to save it. It will explode if put into a sealed container.

+10 for the organic chemist.

I've been using this approach with success for years now, and no one believes me. They all want to use tomato juice...

While working in Sonora, Tx with a dog handler searching the buses for drugs, his dog was sprayed. We went to the local grocery store and picked up two packages of douche. It worked great and was very easy to carry in his gear.

I used tomato sauce and it actually seemed to make it smell worse!

dogs ride in a dog box, and are outside year round. if they get sprayed, they are the only ones that get to smell it. :D
