Hey i've got a treeing walker and my uncle got a tag for cougar and he's taking me and my dog with his pack. and i just wanna hear from other people what i should do to prepare him for it? he tree's hard, trails fast, just startin to open on trail with coon. he's a late started dog, he 3 years old this is his first season but he strikes hard on the strike rack and he's exceding my expectations so far. even though he's old for a dog not finished out i'm seeing some good potential in him. any info to get my dog on the right start for cougar would be great.
thanks!

Turn him loose with the pack when you find a lion track your going to chase and see what he's made of.
Sounds to me like he's well on his way already, the only thing you can do now is let him run some lions!!!

See if you Uncle is cool with you leading your dog out a ways along the track before the rest of the dogs are cut lose. See if your dog shows any interst or even strikes on the track. Might give him a chance to have an idea what's going on before the other dogs boil out of the country. Sounds like you are on your way to having a fun winter. Best of luck, Casey
