Re: Texas ?
It's no wonder the coyote population is out of control other than a few predator callers nobody hunts them anymore. I know there used to be a man near Era, Tx that ran them. At least around here in N Tx.

Re: Texas ?
People used to hunt them down here with hounds. The brush got so thick it's made it rough. It'd take a hell of a pack of hounds and some luck to catch one down here now.
I snare and trap the hell out of them here on our place. I haven't got them all and never will... But, there aren't near as many as there used to be. I agree though, people need to go to work on them.

When I was young there were some old timers that hunted coyotes with running walkers but they referred to it as wolf hunting. Ever heard of that?

Yes, that's exactly what I'm talking about. There are still a few around that do it. Not many in numbers though.

You would have to have some sure enough BROKE yote hounds to do that around there, wouldn't you?

Re: Texas ?
thelineman,
You sure would. As far as I know there isn't anyone doing it here in deep S. Texas. I would think W. Texas would be much better for that type hunting. I've just heard in conversation that there are still hunters in Texas "Wolf Hunting". I have no names and don't know any personaly.

There are a couple of "puppy pens" close by me. No more than a couple hundred acres each. There are still a few wolf hunters around. Just more yuppies than dog men around here so not many places to dump a pack of foxhounds.

Re: Texas ?
There's an old guy that I used to cowboy with some that lives around Jayton, Aspermont area named Roy Winters. He had running walkers that he ran yotes with and still had them a couple years ago, don't know if he still does now, I would assume so.
