was just wondering what all you guys would consider is the best state for coon hunting?

Iowa,more and bigger coons [corn belt]

Indiana and Iowa

I know this is going to sound funny but I would have to say California. After talking with many of the guys on here and hearing about some of the numbers most other states have sounds like Central Cal. has some of if not the best coon numbers in the country. Now the bad part is 99% of these spots are private clubs and most if not all of the laws in this state do nothing to help hunters out. Also if you run hounds in this state you have a big old set of crosshairs on you by Fish and Game. But I guess we cant have it all or else everyone would be running coon here and we wouldnt be able to put up the kind of numbers we can. Happy hunting to you all.

iowa, illinios, mich. wis, indiana, ohio and ny. all these states have a great coon population.

I have only coon hunted in OK and CA and i can honestly say i catch a caboodle of coon here any time of year any kind of condition i catch just as many in the summer as the winter and just as many when its hot and dry and just as many when its wet and rainy nasty out. I can catch just as many in the daytime as i can at night. of course they are in different spots at different times of the year and different times of day or night. I have coon and cat hunted in OK and the cat population there was better than the coon population from what i seen, i hunted in about 5 or 6 different counties and several hours away from eachother. I also coyote hunted there with grey hound stag hound crosses and that is a hole different ball game it was a blast!! I hunted there for 12 days. I hunt central CA and we also have a pretty decent cat population.

I dont know but i can go out in the surrounding area of billings montana and tree coons everytime i go. alot of farmland, good river bottoms and big coons, and ive never ran into another coon hunter at night and have been doing it for five years
