We were having a rough year, lots of miles and no good tracks, finnally today we found a track, was a little old and filled with snow but the dogs struck it and made great chase and put her in the tree, This was a special one for us even though it was a female and we gave her a pass. This was our first Lion with nothing but our dogs. couldn't be happier.

Been good here, but I haven't been out enough. Right now am guiding a lot of cow elk hunts. So the dogs are soft and aren't quite where they should be, still stuck in bear chasing mode I guess. I caught a couple, and harvested one nice tom with a hunting client. Been finding tracks on days I can't hunt as well.

Just moved and had a chance to hunt here this weekend...didn't find a single track on Sunday. Saturday picked one up pretty quick, but never had the cat jumped that we know of. It was a real slow track even though it was only a few hours old (snow/wind made it easy to tell). Tracked it down to the river then it disappeared! No tracks anywhere on either side of the river within a 3-400 yard radius! We were thinking maybe it had come back up the same way that it went down and we trampled out the tracks?

Went out once with the sleds and cought a nice little female. had a 3 hr walk into the tree and about a 2 hr walk out. took my girl friend along on her first lion hunt and i thought she was going to kill me.... she kept asking if we really do this for fun? It was a good day though, a good cold track that the dogs had to work hard and a nice walk to the top of a big mountain. my two older dogs did good and we had two pups out of my last cross that did very well on there first lion. it was a text book day of hunting.

We have had bad luck here in Montana no snow but Thursday we got a jumped tom bob race going and we had to pull the dogs off due to wolves howling within five hundred yards. Of the dogs

Treed a small female and kitten on the 3rd. It was the first lion my dogs ever treed. Both did good but my 2yo male did a bang up job. Been hitting it hard and have been cutting tracks, both lion and bobcat but we need some fresh snow. Cut two more lion tracks yesterday, tried getting dogs on one but they were just two damn old.
Pictures from Dec 3

My 2yo old male i got from Mark Bates. Turning into a really nice dog

Both my dogs. crappy picture taken with my phone
