We took a shot at a couple old cat tracks, but came up empty. I did get the boy out with my hunting buddies and got to try out the dog sled I knocked out while waiting for some snow. So far I like it, we will have to see how it holds up in the long run being all aluminum with uhmw runners.

I have one built just about like it. The problem I have or would change is it is too low and catches alot of snow on the front end. I am always having to stop and kick the snow off. Hope it works for you, it sure looks nice.

My sled is similar to that but it sit a little higher. My skis are really long and made of aluminum. It works really well but the skis can freeze to the ground. I try to remember to give it a kick before taking off again. Looks like yours will get the job done.

I was thinking of skinning the tongue with thin uhmw and running it under the front of the sled to try to give it some "lift" in deep powder. After hearing your experience I think I might do it and not wait for the deep powder test day and save a lot of cussing.

It is amazing how fast aluminum will freeze to the ground. I had thought about making the skis out of alum but decided on the uhmw. It is slicker than goose sh*t through a brass horn. I made a two inch wide runner and ran it the length of the ski, it seemed to really help to keep the sled tracking and not skating around.
