Good topic.. Earlier this year our chrismas present to our selves was a New Cannon Rebel.. Mostly because I had some Zoom lenses that would work with it..

I've been happy with the results..
Here is a photo of a cat 40-50 feet up a tree taken with it..

at the tree I could barely make out any detail with my naked eye.. I was really surprized when I got home and seen the results.. It definately made a huge difference.

That's nothing new to me.. Story of my Life!! :)

I hear people drive trucks and cars that they don't have to work on also. Not me!:)

One thing to remember about that return rate is how many were bought compared to each other. Kind of like a best breed poll, walkers will always win becuase there are more walker owners.

I've been camera shopping also. I'm looking for a point and shoot, for bear hunting plus all around. Had it narrowed down to two choices and I've not made a move yet. The first camera i have had my hands on and really like: Cannon 720 is all the tech features i want plus, runs on aa batteries and uses SD cards.

The second is an olympus. Basically identical tech specs, but uses it's own type memory card and battery. Major plus: shock proof, water proof, and crush proof. Have not had it in my hands so idk yet.

Tech i am looking for is PandS 7-10 MPix, min 3x opticl zoom plus digital zoom, simple operation, image stabilization (must) and shutter speeds up to 1600. The shorter the shutter lag the better.

Any advice:

(Good, new topic)

The olympus is a nice camera but i've decided on a Connon sx100is. The olympus is more complicated and has a whimpy zoom. I like the design and features of the cannon. simple but everything you need. Circuit city has a reasonably priced total replacment warranty for everything but theft and fire, so i guess that kinda makes of for the shock and water proof. oh...and the olympus is about double the price.
