just wondering what you guys are using for coyotes we like using the old elan's but they are getting tired and harder to find parts. i have been looking at the bombardier freestyle 300 looks like a light machine that a guy can load in the truck. let me know what you guys think and use

Well the prime of primes for winter hunting is a Tundra. Or a Skandic but some of those have drawbacks. Reverse is a great great thing to have and those Tundras can crawl through some tight spots.


But since I'm a poor man I am currently running a 340 Enticer and I like it. Not too heavy, gets places and with all the "vintage" racers out there, there is no shortage of parts and people that know how to work on them.

i agree the tundra is a good sled but we hunt the farm country and need a light small sled that we can load in the truck easily with a dog box

I have a tundra and love it. It is light enough that two guys can load it in to a truck and still have some room in the box. The older ones where alot smaller then the new ones i have a 88 and it is a spring front end and it is narrow the 96 and up are strut and a bit wider.It goes threw anything and climbs like a goat and the rack is good for hauling yotes out to the road and tying dogs to.I don't know if you could get a sled and dog box in the same truck unless you have a over the rail box or pull a little trailer.I have a dog box sled i made and can pull the dogs to where we hunt some times.Just some ideas.

If you have a full size truck, go with a tundra and a crossover box. Best combo I've found. I personally like the 2000 year style. The new ones like the freestyle are nicer to ride, but they are bit higher and don't fit in the truck as good. If you need to load it in the truck solo, get a ramp.

If you got a little truck, a tundra is going to be too big. Then you'll have to find a little sled that will work. You won't be able to get as many places but it's still better than walking.

thanks guys i will look into the tundra a little better. i have a full size chev with a 8 foot box. we started the day with 2 elan's and ended up on foot might be time to spend some money

If your hunting farm country a freestyle would work just fine. they are a little shorter and lighter. I use the tundra and like it, but we hunt some big country at times and alot of cattail swamps, and the tundra has a little more track on the ground. I have a pull out ramp that is pretty easy to build and I can load and unload in less than a minute. Then I have a plastic dog crate on the back to haul two dogs into where they need to be. It works great. If you want to see a picture of the set up I could send one on a cell phone cuz I don't know how to post pics on here.
