Was just wondering if any one has any luck by roading dogs to strike or start a track in the desert or on dry ground.

Yes, some times we go along ways but we start a few tracks.

I have caught alot of lions doing this. Dont drive to fast just let them work at their own pace. Be very careful or you will run over a dog.

Most of the lions I catch in some parts of southwest Idaho are started by roading. I use a four-wheeler rather than a truck. This area recieves little snow and if it does get snow it generally melts is short order making dry ground tactics the best way to hunt. I just put the dogs down and go for a leisurely ride, sometimes for miles and miles. If I want to get to some better country I take my old mare and hunt the ridgetops, but the principal is the same.
