I haven't had much time to hunt this year, but I have a buddy hunting the young dogs. They are nine months old and all 3 are making lion dogs pretty quickly.

They are making me pretty happy. All the old dogs are down in New Mexico hunting right now. Pat is actually out hunting with them, He still has Lilly and a pup out as we speak. I hope he finds them. I should put up some pics of her, just in case. They are in the Glenwood NM area, if anybody finds a white dog with a freeze brand on her ear and a red and white pup holler. Here is a pic of Lilly.

These were bred at the tree. Just a mix of the old New Mexico/Arizona lines crossed on a Walker Bear dog out of Vermont two generations ago. I've made this particular cross twice now and am dipping back into the AZ/NM stuff this spring. That is, if Lilly makes it back. It's not unlike her to stay for way too long, and with that warm weather down there she may never come out.

What do ya think Mike? I finally got that old fart to get out hunting. Just an update, Pat found lilly and the pup way up in a boulder field with a couple trees tore to hell. He tried the tracking system and was no savvy, so he went back to his old ways and found them. You just can't train some people over the phone.

LOL! Well Paddy is an old dog for sure but he is plenty savvy in the ways of lions and dogs. He really should set down and write a book. I am sure it would be good reading and one thing for sure there would be plenty of laughes in it. :)

Had Lilly's pup Diamond Lil on an old track yesterday. The dogs worked it for a couple of hours until the got mixed up with some shed horn hunters. Glad to hear Your dogs made it back.

Diamond Lil huh? I like it, she sure was a cute little thing, these wild a** pups here are doing great. My buddy laughs at me every time we go out, and has to mention me telling him "If you don't want to go hunting, don't turn these dam* things loose". They are doing good, Cherry got her first war wound Sunday. That tree squirrel act of hers is getting old. So be careful with little lil, I mean, Diamond Lil, she may have a bit of the climbing gene. And Mike, I wish he would wtite a book. He has some different ways of looking at the world. I'm just glad he's back on the mountain chasing them dogs around. He was laughing the other day, when they caught a pack of Kudimundi's sp... , He said " It's funny how a guy can complain about the very traits he has been breeding into his dogs" I guess he forgot his couplers and he was dragged around the mountain a bit by all four dogs trying to get at those things. We don't have those things here, so I think it was a bit to tempting for the dogs. Anyhow, take care, and happy hunting.
