This is a spin off of something I read on the "Fuel for thought..." thread. They were discussing how many cats were caught over and over again instead of new cats each tree. I got to thinking about this and I know in my own little world I cought one cat four or five times and cought 3 others twice a piece. I took special care not to disrupt or terrorize my favorite "trainer" female and she stuck around till someone else came along and didn't treat her the same. She left the country for 3 months before she came back. I wonder if people are catching the same cats as often as I do or if I'm on the odd end of the spectrum? I take close care to figure out and make sure what cat it is that I caught. Do others or is it just another cat and they go on with their life? To me it's important to know what is in the area and who is just traveling through. By doing this it seems as though I have a good idea what to expect in the future. Mabey I'm just fooling myself.

How often do you guys that have a "trainer" in your area catch her(or him)? I'm trying to decide how often is too often to tree any one particular cat. I tried to never run her more than once a week, but did make a mistake and caught her two days in a row. The dogs pulled off another track and ran her instead. She never showed signs of having kittens or I'd left her alone. I do know that she had a boyfriend swing by for a visit for a week or so.....hopefully she will be around next year with kittens.

Unless there is something like a scar, notched ear, foot damaged track it can be hard to know if you are catching the same cat. Where I hunt we have a fairly high population of lions, I am sure that I have caught various cougars more than once but a lot of times it is hard to tell. A couple years ago I treed a tom for my neighbor kid which he shot exactly a week later I treed another tom 200 yards away that I would've swore was the same cougar if I hadn't known that he was dead.
