Does anyone know why the hound hunting groups aren't getting some or all of the bear and cougar permits? Is there an application process for them? Is it whoever the DWR "like the most"?

My understanding, which is limited, is that they are on a bid system. The organizations bid on how much they can get for the tag plus what their return history has been on other tags. Basically they go the organizations that can get the most $$$ for them.

Pretty impressive that the Utah Bowmen are able to get in with all the big $$$ organizations like SFW and SCI!

The bigger question would be where does the 1.3 million dollars go?///

yes thes tags do go up for bid...... they are not cheap to even get on bid then u have to sell them for the minimum of what you bought them for then on top of that 90 of the profit goes back to the DWR.....so if the UHA buys a bears tag for 2000 and sells it for 2100 we make 10
